Brown Butter Latte Syrup

This syrup adds nutty, caramelized, golden-butter flavor to hot or iced coffee. Cozy, warm, and unbelievably good in lattes.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown, foamy, and nutty-smelling (3–5 minutes).
  3. Slowly add water (careful, it sizzles).
  4. Add brown sugar and whisk until dissolved.
  5. Simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, cinnamon (optional), and salt.
  7. Cool before bottling.

Notes

  • Browning the butter correctly is key! We want golden, not burnt.
  • Use 1–2 tbsp per latte.
  • Amazing in hot lattes, shaken espressos, and cold brew.
