Brown Butter Latte Syrup
This syrup adds nutty, caramelized, golden-butter flavor to hot or iced coffee. Cozy, warm, and unbelievably good in lattes.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown, foamy, and nutty-smelling (3–5 minutes).
- Slowly add water (careful, it sizzles).
- Add brown sugar and whisk until dissolved.
- Simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, cinnamon (optional), and salt.
- Cool before bottling.
Notes
- Browning the butter correctly is key! We want golden, not burnt.
- Use 1–2 tbsp per latte.
- Amazing in hot lattes, shaken espressos, and cold brew.
